Nick Garbutt On Line
Nick is an award-winning wildlife photographer and author who has a passionate concern for biodiversity and the fragile environment we inhabit.
While his background is in academic zoology, he realised it was too constraining and he found the avenues of photography and popular natural history writing provided the freedom he wanted to indulge in and express his interests in the natural world.
Nick is best known for his work in tropical rainforests, where the diversity and complexity of life prompts relentless curiosity and inspiration. He is also intrigued by the peculiarities of island wildlife, with the faunas of Borneo and Madagascar being two of his particular favourites.
Nick has travelled widely to many other regions of the world and has photographed wildlife in numerous renowned and iconic locations. His images have been published in books, magazines and other publications all over the world and his own books have received wide critical acclaim.
He is based in Cumbria, United Kingdom and when not travelling, behind a camera or in front of his computer, can be found on a local golf course or trying to coax a fat Brown Trout from a difficult lie on the River Eden, with a dry fly.
